~My Country tis of thee~

My Patriotic finishing continued today.... As my personal display of Americana grows, I'm enjoying selecting a design I've stitched and adding detail with its finish..... Enjoy today's highlight~~~

I love the way the flag is billowing in the breeze~

I chose a complimentary accent fabric with tiny flags.... I try to use simple prints so your eye remains focused on the stitch....

As most of you know, I love simple "x's" on the seams....

Today's addition to the collection is one of my favorites.... And, like the others, unique in its own way...

I'm having fun with this..... Simple summer fun~

Happy stitching!

Today's Patriotic finish ~Liberty Bell~

As we near the end of June, *yikees!*, we ready ourselves for our most Patriotic holiday... For me, the 4th of July has been, and will always be, the most humbling of holidays.... Pride...Honor...Remembrances ...

Today's Patriotic stitch and finish is unique and its words are touching....

"Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof~ 1752"..... these are the very words inscribed on the real Liberty Bell; a commissioned piece of art.... The talented Kathy Barrick arranged these same words on her bell shaped piece of art.....

I love its uniqueness and saw on her Etsy that she offers a nickel with a hole in it as its embellishment..... I just HAD to purchase....

I am having a lot of fun creating all kinds of stitching finishes for myself and others this week.... Stay tuned for tomorrow's highlight.... It too has a unique creative flair~

Happy Stitching~~

A Patriotic finish for me!

Hello everyone this Saturday night... Like many of you, it's blistering hot here in the Carolina's.... Stormy too!

I share the love of all things Americana.... Especially this time of year~ Between finishing for you guys, I manage to sneak in my own stitching and finishing.... Here's my latest stitch.... I fell in love with the verse, the overdyes and those blossoms...

Heartstring Samplery designs, by Beth Twist, will usually capture my eye and this design was no exception.... I stitched with the specified overdyes on 40 count coffee dipped creme linen... It's a nice size~ approximately 6" x 6"..... Which made me want to finish it flat so to lean on my easel.....

I wanted the edge to be simple... I doubled a length of twine, twisted it with my corder and attached to the edging.... Simple is often better~

A fairly quick stitch, I am thankful to have this addition to my stitched Patriotic pieces.....

I have a few stitched designs I've been working on and hope to do a blogpost each day for the next week~ I love adding to my collection because I leave them out year round to enjoy.....

Hoping everyone's weekend is going well....... Happy stitching~

Emilia Poole.... And her twin!

Good Friday evening all...... I've just come home today from a whirlwind shop hop through parts of Maryland and Virginia~~ Oh my how so MANY of you are blessed to have a LNS( or two!) where you live~~ My traveling stitching friend ,Linda and I, were able to see several awesome LNS and Quilt shops before being called on back to NC..... We cannot wait to return!

Before leaving, I was able to put the final finish on the Stacy Nash design "Emilia Poole 1802"... A great customer of mine had stitched the set.... I had also already stitched the set.... So, I was able to finish both Emilia's at the same time..... It was a true labor of love envisioning all the special touches I wanted the Ms Emilia's to have....

I will let you be the judge of her... Of them...

Emilia Poole 1802~~Sewing Box & Book

Antique bone button along with vintage seam tape closes the book...

The Sewing Box is approximately 5" x 7" oval~

I think these ladies are so dainty.... They are stitched with the specified linen and cotton overdyes~

The bottom of the Sewing Box... I added the tiny "X's" around the seams....

They are lined and slightly padded with a coordinating bottom insert... Emilia loved her ABC's.....

This is the book folded open.... Aged velvet is the books inside and outside binding...

There are a few beautiful Blackbird Designs Strawberries inside...

I finished them with special end caps...filled with crushed walnut shells~

Isn't this a beautiful set????

I used special touches on the strawberry tops....

So... There you have it! The Emilia Twins... One now lives in PA and one lives in NC~

As always, please know you can call on me for your finishing needs~

A labor of love it will always be~

Happy stitching!

Tonight's picture walk.....

Greetings friends and stitchers~~
Its been a little crazy here lately as we wind down our school year this week.... Time seems to slip away and I'm afraid my blog posting has suffered the brunt of it.... I'll be much better about things though in another week or so~

Tonight I simply want to offer a picture walk for your view..... YOUR beautiful stitching, my creativity in their finishing into goodies for you to display, share and enjoy!

I wanted to share one more goodie.... I treated myself to a beautiful flame less candle from Jen of "Where Sisters Gather"... She is offering a couple sizes and sampler designed beeswax candles that are just heavenly... They come wonderfully packaged for safe shipping and the darling box is even adorned with a reusable charm... The perfect little "me" gift to as we celebrate the closure of the 2014/2015 school year~

Enjoy the rest of your week......
