Faded Flowers Needlebook....

Good Sunday morning to all! I've been super busy this past week, getting back home and settled in my craftroom.... I'd like to share a recent finish I completed for a most pleased customer....

Being a long time educator, for me there is nothing better than the feel of a hard back book in my hands... So, when I was called on to create this book, I quickly said yes!

This latest creation is a design by The Pinkeep called Faded Flowers... It's a kitted design offered through Country Sampler as part of their Prim Sisters Club~ A very simple design uniquely finished into a hardback book~ A true labor of love~

The front cover includes stitching, antique buttons and a strip if wool hand sewn as the binder....

Hand dyed silk ribbon ties the book together....

The back of the book is covered in a beautiful piece of wool....

You can see the wool strip that I hand stitched as the binder attaching front to back....

And, the inside of the book is simple... Both sides are covered in velvet... Then hand sewn around the edges to attach inside to outside....

Basically a blank palette inside the book to put cherished notes, momentos or about anything a stitcher would like to secretly tuck inside....

I was so glad I had the opportunity to finish this book and look forward to making more for others...

Here's hoping everyone enjoys their day!

Today's picture walk......

Hello fellow friends and Stitchers~ What a glorious Sunday this is and perfect for me to share a few of my recent finishes~ I've recently been watching a little Flosstube and have learned the acronym for a stitched project that has finally been finished is referred to a FFO... Finally Finished Object! So, I guess I have a new title..... Creator of FFO's! I love that~ Here a few of the most recent FFO's that have have mailed out of my craftroom.....

Pins and Needles~ Pheasant Street Samplers

I made a crushed walnut filled pincushion.... And put my Carolina Stitcher spinning on things....

Topiary in Bloom~ Blackbird Designs.....

I fell in love with the birds... I wanted to create a Needlebook to compliment the pincushion seen above... So, I coordinated fabrics and specialty stitches...

Leftover linen was incorporated into the inside pocket...

These two would be a beautiful gift set or the beginning of a sweet vinyette...

Another couple designs were finished as a "set".... Marrying Littlehouse Needleworks with Plum Street Samplers....

Merry One~ Plum Street Samplers

I enjoy making custom cording.... And, the round padded ornaments are the perfect finish to use the cording on.... For me, it gives that nice clean finished look......

The beginnings of her 2016 Christmas goodies, my customer was most pleased....

Here's a look at another sweet ornament....

Merry Mouse~ With thy Needle & Thread

Again, handmade cording that ties the various colors together.....

While I'm mentioning stitches that may be presented in pairs, or finished to compliment each other, this is a good time to show you a way you may want to consider when you have something small to attach to a stitched piece....

Here is a strawberry made to go with the sweet pillow...(Handprint on my Heart~ Heartstrings Samplery)
Hand sewing the strawberry to the pillow would be an option or simply laying the strawberry next to the pillow when displaying would be fine as well... Here's my alternative....

I attached a nice metal ring discreetly in the corner..... So I could do this or....

This.... Looping the top of the strawberry through the ring allows it to be attached to the pillow. Yet, can be removed with ease if you'd like to use it somewhere else....

Many of you are now making collections of strawberrys using my metal toppers.... (I now stock these toppers in silver tone and bronze tone so email me if you need some...fayeriggsbee@gmail.com) These toppers are your strawberrys crowning glory....

Finally, a special 19" project roll with a twist! Using your stitched piece on the inside lining of your project roll is the perfect way to continue to enjoy that beautiful stitch....

Martha Agnes~ Stacy Nash Designs.... Seen as part of the inside lining of the project roll....

Well protected when closed and you're not stitching on your current project.....

But, will be enjoyed when you unroll the project roll to start stitching again..... All sizes of stitched pieces can be used this way... On 12" or 19" project rolls, your small stitched pieces would look nice here also....

Hoping your day is wonderful! I'll be resuming my craftroom finishing on Thursday...Lots of orders on hand to get back to you guys and it'll be my pleasure to do so the last part of my summer break..... With my October 1 deadline for Christmas finishing fastly approaching, please get your goodies to me to secure your spot in my finishing rotation.... Just a thought!

Consider this to be your thought for the day~

Always,

Faye

La-D-Da picture walk......

Greetings this Monday morning friends and I hope this finds everyone ready for their week! I wanted to share a few recent finishes that have now been received by my customers.... I was in La-D-Da heaven recently.... So, I thought I'd highlight those finishes today~
Sometimes you will find La-D-Da designs in a kit... Not always, but when the designer has lots of smaller accessories used in the finishing, they will kit the chart.... Lori Markovic of La-D-Da offers everything from classic designs with a bit of whimsy thrown in to reproduction samplers~ she's extremely creative!
Garden Maiden~

Basket weave Needle Book~
Birdy Stitching Roll~

Other designs of hers are leaflets..... Stitch and then finish as you'd like~ I especially love having creative rein from my customers to select the perfect fabrics, embellishments and finish type to compliment the design....
Mockingbird~ A classic song that so many of us learned at an early age....

And, of course, I love layering fabrics and little stitches here and there....
Spot the Cat~ A Carolina Stitcher project bag is now home for this pretty feline~ An accessory where Spot can be seen each day she reaches for her organized project.....

I have so many finishes rolling out this summer.... I'll be highlighting many on future posts... Until then..... Let's remind ourselves.... to enjoy life!...... Faye
