Emma Rose Freedom....

Hello from sunny North Carolina!!!!

I wanted to share with you my beloved Emma Rose Freedom....She has arrived back at home from a jaunt to the Tree of Life Samplings retreat and is placed on my breakfast room table on display....along with my basket of patriotic stitched goodies..

 Emma Rose Freedom Sampler
Tree of Life Samplings
40 ct Confederate Gray linen by Weeks
specified overdye cotton threads

I fell in love with this design the minute I saw it....Jan Alexander of Tree of Life really grabbed my attention with the gold house, willow tree and billowing flag....Along with  an alphabet so uniquely placed, I knew it was an absolute stitch....

I will let you take a picture walk....

I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this project....

AND, this weekend, my stitch friend Linda and I, made a whirlwind Virginia shop hop....We had talked and talked about taking off and heading north.....Just decided there was no time like the present...and went for it!!  In 2 days we managed to visit Dyeing to Stitch, Haus Tirol, In Stitches and Cross Stitch Station.... all wonderful cross stitch shops in the state of Virginia.... We definitely managed to sneak in alot of retail therapy...and, a little stitching time as well... Thanks for all the laughing and stitching tips "Sista"....!!

We have started our third week of Year Round at my school and so far, so good...I have a brand new batch of First Graders to challenge, teach and nuture for the next 11 months...
It's going to be a fantastic year~~~~

Many blessings to you all,

Faye

  3. Hi, Faye -

Really like the way you finished Emma Rose. Your fab color choices set her off nicely.

Sounds like a fun weekend. I don't know much about VA shops, but I've been to that one in Williamsburg a few times and it is pretty nice. Hope you didn't bust the budget too badly!

Nice that you like your job with the kids.

It sounds like your road trip to the shops in Virginia went well! Hope you come this way again; would love to meet up with you at the stop in Waynesboro.

  6. Your finish is just lovely! I love the setting and how you made it into a quilt. Great stuff that you got to do a shop hop with your friend too -- what fun! And first graders. I so admire you for being a teacher, number one, and for being a teacher of first graders number two. Such an important age! And they're still so sweet at that age too. :D

I wish I had known In Stitches was one of your destinations. One of my local needlework stores I would have loved to have met you. But I think we will get the opportunity at PALS.

  29. Beautiful Faye! It's a pattern I'm putting on my wish list.

Hope one of these days I can do a tour of stitch shops like you and your friend have done. What fun! I was not far from In Stitches not too long ago but did not have an opportunity to make a stop there.

  32. I forgot to ask, how do you like year round school? The government here in BC is thinking of introducing it and there is a lot of resistance to it. Do you also get time off during winter/spring?
