First let me say that I hope that everyone on the eastern shores are spared the wrath of Hurricaine Bill. I know the upper eastern states should be of most concern however storms and the sea are unpredictable. And for those daring surfers who are now catching the magnificent waves as a result of the storm, may they be safe and spared from the rip tides.
With that said, I present to you my latest finish by Country Cottage, Bayside Bungalows which I have "made it my own" by altering to Beachside Bungalows...I have a place by the beach not the bay, so I thought I needed to tweek things...And, I did leave off the last tan row of stitches at the bottom below the waves because I did not have enough thread in my thread pack. I noticed when I bought the graph (which came with the threads) that the brown had one less strand of floss than the others...oh, well, not a biggie...so I just left that row off...I have a great white frame to put this in and it will be ready to hand at the beach house!!
So today I get to sink my needle in the linen and start Shore of Hawk Run Hollow. I am so excited! I have reviewed the chart and have decided to go ahead and start in the first block, top left corner...I am looking at this project as 12 mini projects just so it doesn't become overwhelming. I am SURE I will have to do a few quickies along the way just to get that great feeling of accomplishment that we all strive for...
So, here's hoping everyone has a safe and happy weekend as our summer days wind down.
Faye...ps- My classroom is lookin' good and ready for my 17 first graders to arrive on Tues!!Whew!~
You have smokin' needles! Your finish looks great! Very smart to change it from "bay" to "beach." What color do you need for your last row? If I have it in my stash I will send it to you!
ReplyDeleteHere's to another good school year! My kids start back next week too!
Wahoo! We only have 170 more days of school now! hahaha
ReplyDeleteYour stitching looks great btw!
Donna
It looks great! Lovely finish. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my LNS gals did Shores and she stitched a BBD stocking (minimum) in between each block to avoid project burn out. I wish I'd thought of that! I am finally on block 11 but had to put it aside when I got the 'want to run it over with my car' feeling. Oy.
Very pretty finish.
ReplyDeleteOh, Faye, I love your beachside finish. So, so cute. And you'll love Shores. You're approaching it just like I am.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me in blogland. Your blog is a great place to be.
That's a great piece for a beach house. Great job. I'm off to work on Band Sampler 1. Have no idea when I'll start "Shores of Hawk Run".
ReplyDeleteGreat beachside finish Faye. I love that design. Good luck on your first day of school!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! Beautiful finish! Congrats:)
ReplyDeleteI love Beachside Bungalows. What a great finish! Can't wait to see your start on Shores! Just a word of advice - you may want to fit a small project in between the blocks - I did that and so far so good. I said I was going to put it down for a while (On block #6 now), but I'm going to put more time into it! Can't wait to see your start!!!
ReplyDeleteFaye, congratulations on another beautiful finish! "Beachside" was a perfect personalization for this piece. I have Shores on my list as well, can't wait to see your progress pics.
ReplyDeleteFaye...it's beautiful and will look great in your beach house! Good luck with Shore...you and Siobhan are braver than I!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY STITCHIN'
Terri
What a wonderful finish. I just love her designs, she chooses the best colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed by your next endeavor - can't wait to see your progress.
Fantastic finish! I love your little personal touch.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I am so tempted by SoHRH I have loved seeing the progress of others. I will just have to keep my eye out for your updates.
Beautiful finish Faye! After seeing this design stitched I just may have to do this one too. Enjoy Shores of HRH. It's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st day of school! I hope it was wonderful. My daughter started at the middle school today-can't wait to hear about it! I LOVE this design, and the way you changed it is perfect. I have CCN's "Beach Cottage" but have yet to stitch it. I need to add this one to my wish list as well! If ever I do stitch it, may ask you to share your adaptations with me.. I like it better. :) Even if I don't live by the beach. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour beach side finish is fabulous! Congrats on getting that complete. I also love your Quaker Alphabet. That one is on my list to get too. Thank you too for visiting my blog and commenting. I appreciate it and have added you to my blog list. I will be visiting often.
ReplyDeleteLove the 'bungalows'. This is on my to-stitch list for 2010. I would love a beach house to hang it in but alas, we have a houseboat on the river in North Alabama. but to me, it's a floatin' condo, so for now that'll have to do!
ReplyDeleteLove your stitching!!!
