....A true labor of love.. A fellow stitchers true gift~

~ I'm happy to share this with you all...

.... This was a most touching finishing for me.... Let me share a fellow stitchers story~~ .........

About a month ago, I opened an email..... With a heartfelt message.... It read....

"My stitching friend passed away and I was gifted a couple of her WIP's... I was honored by the family and have finished stitching the "Easter Peep" by With thy Needle & Thread.... I want carolinastitcher to finish it so I can give it to my deceased friends sister at Easter.... Would you be interested in taking on this project??"

As I read her words, I KNEW I could create something special and touching.... After all, she had taken the very linen, the very threads that her friend had selected and had stitched it to bring the piece some closure... Her words almost sounded as if it had given HER some closure and acceptance.....

Once the envelope arrived, I knew immediately what I would be doing... Something that would be meaningful, something with a slight twist... But nothing over the top... Let's face it, wanted the stitching to be the focus...

I looked closely to see if there was any way of telling where her stitches stopped and the others stitching began.... It was seamlessly stitched... Truly merged perfectly as if meant to be..... Her completion~

Here is my interpretation of what this most meaningful gift needed to be...

image
.... I can see why this design was picked to be stitched.... It's precious~

image
.... The details on the front needed to be subtle....

I knew my real design flair would be on the back of the finish..... So, I kept it simple yet meaningful.... Take a look~

image
.... A couple pockets.... Where messages of sentiment might be tucked away... Or, perhaps, a note or handwritten recipe card she had left behind....

image
I fell in love with the softly colored stitched tulips in the design.... So, I replicated the tulip on the back.... Peaking out of the pocket.... As if springing to life~

image
...perhaps her stitching scissors would be tucked in the pocket... As a pleasant reminder that she loved to cross stitch and craft with her hands....

...A gift of significance.... Something her sister can hold on to.... Touch those wonderful tiny crosses and know she stitched them.... And that most caring friend took the time to complete~~

image

I thank you Eileen for calling on me to be a part if this heart touching project.... As your friend is looking down from above, I know she embraces your kindness~ At Easter, I hope you and her sister rejoice her and make a special memory~~

... Hoping your weekend is wonderful....

Faye
