When school girl Mary Dewit Danser began her detailed sampler, she must have been wanting to impress her teacher by deciding to incorporate many intricate stitches! After completion she would have tucked within her piece many Algerian eye, eyelet, satin, chain, four sided, long armed and cross stitches. That was back in 1834....Now, today I am presenting a replecation of what this young child had stitched and I will say I thoroughly enjoyed stitching it! Althouch I will admit I was somewhat bothered that she did not fill in the flowers in the lower left hand basket nor did she chose to complete the band of Algerian eye stitches (two-thirds down)...But after all, she was a mere child and I am more than four times her age...so....Thank you Edna Medlin of Threads of Gold for recreating this lovely sampler into print many years ago...I dedicate this finish to you Edna.
Now...My Quaker Lady has spoken to me once again....and she wasn't very nice about how I had tossed her aside and neglected finishing her....The pure nerve of me she said!~ Well!~ Since the snow and ice (grrrr......) has invaded N.Carolina, I will put serious attention to you next...just hoping my GAST Dark Chocolate and Holly Berry hold out to get you done!~
Happy stitching everyone and please be safe if you must venture out on the icey roads...As for me, put another K-cup on, I am happily stitching here in my craft room!~~ ((Hugs)) Faye

Faye, I love your Quaker Lady! Can you tell me who the designer is? I'd love to add it to my wish list.
Looks like Quaker Lady is a little upset with her hands on her hips !!! lol She is beautiful !!! Love the colors.
Oh, Faye, that sampler is gorgeous!!!!! That looks like alot of hard work and it's so beautiful!
Your Quaker lady is looking good too. You'll be done with it before you know it.
I'm still admiring your sampler you sent me and I'm so scared I'm going to mess it up if I try and finish it but I have that on my to do list shortly. I just love it!

Both pieces are stunning. Your quaker lady will be finished in no time.
What a lovely sampler! And the colors on your Quaker Lady are lovely!
It's just gorgeous Faye! I've not tried any specialty stitches just yet but Algerian eyelet is on the horizon. I love that I can learn new things.
Your Quaker Lady looks fantastic. I too hope you have enough thread!
Stay warm and cozy inside!
Congrats on finishing Mary...she is stunning! It just amazes me that such young children stitched these works of art!!!
QL looks very pretty (and happy, lol!) Happy Stitching!!!
Huge congratulations on finishing Mary! She's stunning and it is amazing what those young girls stitched with poor lighting and not nearly the great tools we have today. Your quaker lady is happy to be out and about again, I'm sure. Stay warm!
Congrats on finishing MDD. The colours of the lady are lovely.
Such a wonderful finish! She is beautiful and I think it is truly amazing that girls back then did such wonderful work with the resources they had. I'm going to have to look for this sampler because I love samplers with a variety of stitches. And I love the Quaker Girl too - glad that you resurrected her.
Your Mary sampler is awesome! Amazing the skills girls acquired way back when...
LOVE Quaker Lady! I'm so excited to get this chart. Hope Be Mine gets to you quick!
great finish Faye! Quaker Lady is coming along great! I need to pick mine back up as well. But i need to frog all the stitches i already put in, i am changing the colors. maybe she will get thrown in my rotation.
Way to go, girl! It's gorgeous and I know what you mean about the incomplete areas of the original. Kinda hard for us left-brained folks.
Faye, what a beautiful finish! It really is so pretty. Love the Quaker Lady, too!
Oh, I imagine it was about the time her handsome piano teacher showed up that the stitching left her mind... The Q lady is stashed and waiting for me, too! Love your colors!
Your sampler is beautiful Faye. I agree with you on the empty space on the flowers. My eyes continue to focus there. It is beautiful however.
I am more partial to the Quaker Lady with the attitude. LOL. I looove her hands on her hips.
What a lady. Love it.
Faye, your Mary Sampler looks great and you already know I love your Quaker Lady. Nice bit of snow we have here yes?
I knew she'd speak to you; she told me so....LOL Sampler and QL look fantastic! And I'm with you on the K-cups; I absolutely love ours!
Quaker lady is just beautiful and they can get impatient. Glad you have a nice excuse to sit and stitch.
Great finish! Happy stitching on your Quaker Lady...sure you will have it finished in a flash. Love the colors in yours.
Hope you're thawed out! We only got rain. :(
I love your sampler! This is so beautiful, and you did an amazing job of stitching. The pink birds are wonderful, and I love the satin stitched flowers above them! Your Quaker Lady is pretty too, and it looks to me that she forgives you.
Beautiful Faye!!!
Both are beautiful, I especially love the sampler. Great job on both.
Beautiful finish.
Love the little quaker lady. Especially the colors you chose.

Mary is just lovely! I can't wait to see more on the QL.
Miss Mary is gorgeous! I love the colors. You've been busy stitching.
I'm so pleased you finished her. She is beautiful! Congratulations :))))))
Mary Danser is just beautiful! Snow and ice can be annoying but they certainly help us work through our WIP baskets! Quaker Lady is lovely and the colors! I *think* that I have a full card of GAST Dark Chocolate left over from my Sara Schultz...sooo...if you need it I will be more than happy to pop it in the mail to you! Happy Stitching!
Beautiful finish! Looking forward to see your progress on Lady Quaker.
Hi Faye! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving the nice comments...I'm always so happy to discover another stitching blog and "meet" a new friend...
Your sampler is just lovely--I think it would have been very hard for me to leave those flowers un-stitched, too, but it is a great story to tell people when you are showing off your finish :)
Oh Wow! I am amazed browsing your blog. How did I ever not find you, lol
Your stitching taste is awesome and the finishing even better. Your collection of ornies is fantastic.
