Seeing red...and more~~~

When I got the phone call last night that we would not be having school today, I turned the Krueig machine back on and proceeded to brew a cup of my favorite coffee, Nantucket Country Blend...

And, I decided to heat up my needles and just see how long I could stay up working on one of my "challenge" pieces....

I had left off  in Nov/Dec at this point.....

And until the wee hours of the morning, I stopped at this point...
Pretty good progress...no??

 Then, today, I wanted to do a finish or two..... Here is a pattern I had already cross stitched earlier in Dec....Just needed to ponder on the final finishing....
 Its a pretty sewing design by Marika Belfiori....She is a very talented designer who offers quite a few freebies on her site....If you take a look at the pattern (HERE) you will see I omitted a couple motifs so I could personalize my piece.....

I added a tab on the right side so I could attach a pewter button that I have always liked...

And, I wanted to attach a small thimble charm I have been saving for the perfect design....

And, of course, what would a sewing themed cross stitch design do without a few of my tiny buttons....

All in all, I thought this little pillow would put me in the mood to stitch and sew anytime I happened to find myself gazing at it......

I hope all of you found time to find time for your creative side.... Even for only a short while...

Take care and as always, I appreciate all of your comments~~
~~~Stitch friends are the best~~~
That's a lot of stitching you got done! Love the little pillow you finished too! I can see why you wanted to have a special place for the pewter button and thimble charm.
Okay, I'll be like the others! WOW! You are fast. What a beautiful piece this is going to be. I love Quakers. I had wanted to do this piece. Shepherd's Bush has it done in a green overdye that is lovely, but I felt with a Christmas theme I couldn't put it up very long. It is so beautiful that I will have to do it and just change the words.
Happy Stitching! Peggy
Just beautiful! And great progress! I got a Keurig for Christmas. I LOVE it! Had a Senseo but it was getting harder and harder to find pods, and they didn't have much variety.
Lovely stitching all-round - that sampler is fab!
Nothing like a wonderful red and white themed post, Faye! You got so much done on your Quaker Christmas. I sure wish I could spend hours stitching like you did--I just get restless and can only stitch an hour or two at a time...
Your little "extras" on the freebie are just perfect--especially love the little thimble. Hope things are getting "back to normal" down there weather wise!
Wow! Look at your progress in a single day. If we just didn't have to work ever, think of the walls full of samplers we'd have. (Tom does not think that's a worthwhile goal to have, so it's back to work I go in a couple of months.) And the little button pillow is precious!
Great work. Love the little stitching pillow. I'll have to check out her website.
What wonderful extra touches on the pillow - they make a great design even more special. Could you send some of those lightening fast needles over to my house? Or maybe just some of the caffeine would do the trick.
How inspiring you are! I tend to just stitch a chart as given, but at the same time I have all sorts of "stuff" that I could use to personalize as you did. This is 2011--I just might try!
