Weekend progess on WIP's and a little snow......

It really is not supposed to snow like this in the sunny Carolinas....But, yet again, we are in a huge snow storm and unfortunately, this storm will involve alot of ice on the roads....Good to be out of school for a few days, but when I got the call about having a snow day today, I was told our makeup day will be this Saturday...! What ?????????

The poor Putter Boy statue is covered in snow....And, the concrete planter on the back deck is swallowed up with snow......

At least the little bunnies are protected on the back screened porch......

I was able to devote a little time to one of my "up for a challenge" pieces this weekend..... I got burned out with the same colors, so I stopped half-way through that large bottom band.....  Still alot of intense work is left on this sampler....But, I am going to pace myself....

So for a change of pace, I picked up Blackbird Designs Anniversaries of the Heart and finished up the 7th design.....It is the freebie sampler so I did not personalize it.... Remember, I am stitching these 15 designs in a little different order than that listed....  Here is a closeup on this block....

And here is what the entire piece looks like as of today...... I love all the soft colors....There are 36 different overdyes used so far.... As specified they are gorgeous shades from GAST, Weekes and Crescent Colors........ I am stitching on 36 ct Winter Frost by R & R Linen.....

I am signing off for now....Hubbie and son are attempting to shovel snow and ice near the garage doors.. Not that I am going to get out there with them, I do need to keep an eye on them!!

Take care everyone!!  Hope you are stitching and watching a beautiful snowfall where ever you are~~

Hugs,

Faye

When we had 3 hurricanes during one school year a few years back, the school day was extended as was the school year instead of going to school on Saturday. The county my sister works in had 13 days of school closures. Now we build hurricane days into the schedule and the students/teachers get those days off if they aren't needed (more time off at Christmas). Going to school on Saturday will be tough all around.

I really love your AotH. It's stunning. I'm trying to resist the call...

Your BBD will be stunning, I also adore the soft colors, just beautiful:)

And your snow is heading up north. I know it is a rare occurence for you but I for one am tired of it already. :)

I just love your BBD piece. Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous! Question? How large is the piece with all on one piece of fabric?

Lovely progress on both of your wips.

Beautiful progress on both WIPs. Love how your AOTH is turning out. I'm plugging away at mine! We got snow in Texas too!

Beautiful WIPs! I really want to get to AotH sometime. I hope you don't actually have a makeup day for school on Saturday!

Perhaps you're starting to think that you live up North with all the snow you've gotten over the past couple of years. I can't believe it. Nor the fact that you have to work Saturday!!!

Your pieces are beautiful Faye, as always. I really love them, especially your Anniversaries of the Heart. It's going to be gorgeous when it's finished.

Stay warm and safe hopefully the ice will not show up!

I am stitching, but it is 71 degrees here in central Florida! I wish we had a pretty snowfall instead of the overcast skies that we have right now. Sigh...

Your Scottish Sampler is lovely as is the BBD piece.
We're expecting some snow too but not as much as those in the east.
School on Saturday?? Yuck! When I was teaching they either subtracted them from Spring break or tacked them on at the end of the year.

Love your wips! That's the first I have ever heard of making up a day on Saturday!

Stay safe and warm!

We are expecting snow tonight, and all day tomorrow. I am going to go up to DD's house tonight so that I don't have to drive 50 miles in the snow tomorrow. If our office closes because of the weather we either don't get paid, or we take our vacation hours.

Love both projects, and I can't wait to see them finished!!

Lovely WIPs and terrific snow pictures! Glad you had a snow day, but bummer that it is to be made up on Saturday!

Stay warm!

Your stitching is beautiful. I especially like the BBD.
The snow is suppose to start here tomorrow. Of course it will be after I've gone to work. Thank goodness for the 4 wheel jeep.

Our winter so far is unusual in that we don't have much snow. Much better for commuting that way!
I love your AotH piece. I've never stitched on anything higher than a 32ct so I'm afraid if I tried this my overall piece would be too large.

I think the whole country has flip-flopped weather wise, Faye! You southerners have had much more snow than we've had up north this winter! So sorry about the Sat. makeup day, but I guess it's better than extending your summer vacation...

Your BBD is a real masterpiece--I'll bet you can't wait to get it finished, framed, and displayed in your home!

A snow make-up day on Saturday! How horrible. We were also out of school but we have snow make-up days built in to our schedule. Of course we only had 3 make-up days and we have already used 2 (including today). I am hoping the state will forgive any days over and we do not have to go longer in the summer. I can't wait to see your finished pieces!

I heard you had snow down there but didn't believe it until I saw it on your Blog! Wow! At least your sweet bunnies were protected ;o)

Oh wow! What a gorgeous sampler!

Just beautiful! You've got some lovely WIPs :o)

Seems like a lot of places are getting extreme weather...we just got our 2nd snow of the season (very atypical!) and are looking at some bitter temps tonight (-10!) Saturday? Yuck!

Lovely stitching Faye!

We've had close to a foot of snow, but that is to be expected in our part of the country. But what's going on in your part with all that snow? I drool every time I see the BB Designs! Beautiful!

What gorgeous pieces, Faye! Both of them are stunning. I have a good friend in Charlotte who was scraping ice off the windshield not too long ago.... Stay warm and be safe!

Hi Faye!
Can you believe this snow? Rich went to work in West End today and told me how much more snow you had +3"! I am surprised that the county is making you make up the snow day on Saturday.
You stitching progress is beautiful.
You, Myra and I need to plan to get together for lunch.

Stay warm and safe.

Your Anniversaries of the Heart is absolutely Gorgeous, Faye! And I do love the fabric you chose... I will have to give it a try as it looks like a lovely neutral colour! I am so loving following your progress on it... I started it on New Year's Day... and it's a lovely stitch thus far! And your Scottish Sampler is beautiful, Hun! I can't wait to see more of it... so very delicate and lovely!

It's been snowing or sleeting here all day... and still doing something out there... sounds like sleet with a bit of snowflakes mixed in for good measure! It's beautiful and has been a perfect day for stitching... I'm sorry to hear you will have to make up the snow day on Saturday... no fair at all! Such a thing was unheard of in our day, was it not? And the way it's going you just may be out tomorrow as well...

I hope you received my email reply a few weeks ago... Take care and stay warm and cosy and be safe if you have to venture out in the weather!

Wishing you much love and joy, glad tidings and good cheer, a cosy warm hearth and blessings abounding... and many a heartfelt hour of peaceful stitching thyme in the New Year!

Heartfelt blessings always in stitches...

Saturday school sounds not nice at all! Your BBD is stunning!!

Here in Michigan we get snow like that all the time and I love it, but I know it's very disruptive when you're not used to it.

Glenna said...

Saturday!? Well, you certainly put your snow day to good use. Lots and lots of gorgeous progress. I know what you mean about getting burned out on particular colors.

Shelleen said...

a Saturday? Even here in western NY where we get the snow we don't do that. We either lose one day at Easter break or they add a day on at the end of the school year.

I love the BBD anniversaries of the heart - I have 3 of the patterns - I am going to start that soon :)

Your sampler is looking beautiful !!

Your stitching looks wonderful! But school on Sat. UG! One year we had to go on Memorial Day! I taught in a private school and we got lots of flack for that one! At least enjoy the snow days and happy stitching!

Charlene ♥ NC said...

Your challenges are all so pretty! Did you make hot chocolate, or good soup for the snow movers? We had about 6 inches of snow, covered by some sleet or frozen rain. We're closed again tomorrow... Stay warm and enjoy the stitching time!

Beautiful progress on your WIPs, Faye! You're doing so well with the challenge. I can't believe you have to make up the snow day on a Saturday!! That's criminal! LOL Enjoy the snow--stay safe and warm.

Joy said...

Great progress Faye!! Sorry about the Saturday make up day...someone was not thinking. We got slammed with more ice than snow in my area, and the kids are enjoying the time off! Be safe my friend!

I love your BBD piece. That's amazing!!

Wow, I can't believe all the snow you all got again!! I wish it would snow here, but no, we just got a teeny-tiny bit of freezing rain. Your Dutch Sampler is looking great - looks like you are almost finished! And AoTH is just gorgeous. I really want to get back to mine sometime soon!! Take care and stay warm!!

Your Anniversaries of the Heart is just gorgeous. All the colors compliment each other so well.

I can't believe you have to make up your snow day on Saturday! That's crazy. I hope your snow melts soon and you start to enjoy sunny days again.

Natalia said...

Oh it is not fun having to make up snow days... specially on Saturday !!!
Love your WIPs, Faye... specially AoTH. I have mine all ready to start, but I keep procrastinating on it. It seems like such a huge project...

Jan said...

Oh goodness, Faye...how dreadful the thought of you having to go to school and work on a Saturday. Maybe it will just be more like an adventure of sorts? I know, still work, no matter how you look at it.

Your progress is lovely...I am wondering why you are stitching it out of order though, I must have missed that. Will go on a search to when you started it. You are doing a most fabulous job! Wow

xoxo Jan
