A start, a gift and my giveaway~~~

Greetings everyone and Happy New Year almost!!!
Where did Christmas go to??? Blew right by and soon we will be writing 2012 on our checks...wow.
Honestly, the older I get, the faster time flys by...Mom always said it would, and she was right~

On the starts front...I FINALLY got in my CCN January Cottages chart....And, I promptly sat down and started it....Not to be different, but the DMC 598 was a little bit bright for me and since I hope to convert these charts to silks anyway, I took this opportunity to select a more toned down shade of a tealish turquoise as my main color... Once I am done, I will list my conversion....right now its a "selection in progress" ....
40 ct Exemplar Lakeside
Stitching these individually....

Next, I would love to show off a darling gift I just received in the mail....
From dear Tricia of Hillcrest Home Prims... She loved my little pin pillow I had sent her and sent me a thank you with this prim plain mitten enclosed....It is adorable Tricia and I will proudly display it with my winter prims collection....

AND, I want everyone to know that in January I will be hosting a giveaway!!!
I should have had a 600 follower giveaway....And, with the holidays, I put it off...
So, soon I will be announcing a giveaway...Will more than likely be a handmade goodie rather than stash...So....stay tuned~~
***********

Well, it is a super rainy day here in the Carolinas....Lots to do this week as school will be resuming next week....This is the time of the year when you ask yourself, why did I put up so many decorations???!

The house has emptied out....both the boys had to head back out to their places...
House is kinda quiet..
I will end things here with a funny pic of poor Julius (Adam's dog..) in what I think is an
X-Box coma.....I'll let you decide!!!

Happy Tuesday....Hope its a good one!~~~

Faye

How exciting...a New Year's giveaway. Really look forward to seeing what you come up with. I finally officially signed up as a follower, even though I am a steady one.

Still no Cottage pattern for me. LNS said their supplier was now on backorder. Guess I'll start in the spring, but I'll get to see everyone else's great ideas before rushing into something.

Love all your little pillows and things! Cute little mitten gift to go with your other prims.

Happy New Year. Hope you can adjust to the quiet time...that happens!

A giveaway would be a great way to start the New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family. My boys have all returned home now and I find the house a little too quiet! Wishing you a very Happy New Year.

Hi Faye,

I have been following along and was wondering which fabric you are using for your cottage and whether the pattern is in the Just Cross Stitch magazine, which I just began receiving three months ago. If so, which issue?

How do you decide on the fabric choice and which threads to use? I have been blindly following the kits I have bought over the last 25 or 30 years and, now that I have found your site, I realize that I don't have to follow a kit anymore! Wow, what a concept! Not sure what to do with that kind of freedom.

Feel free to email me with answers if you don't want to post them up - CNewton724@gmail.com.

I was really hopeful about going to the Gathering of Embroiderers in Williamsburg in February, but my best friend's breast cancer has spread all over her lungs and now it looks like I will be unable to attend. I am sad about this for so many reasons, because I was so looking forward to meeting some other stitchers. I think one of your readers, Robin(?), had emailed me to tell me about it.

Love the start to your little cottage. Beautiful work.

Hugs,
Chelle

Great new beginnings! The faster they pass, the more I've learned, and put up fewer decorations. Enjoy the rest of your time off!

Deb said...

Love the picture of the pup! He seems quite comfortable. I like Charlene above, think that less is more with the decorating. Seems that by the time I get all of it up, it's time to take it back down again!!
