Liberty and a little more...

Greetings from a hot and sweltering beach...I mean it is c-r-a-zz-y hot here~~
Enough so that I have gotton a little stitching in and a finish to share...

First I will show you the end result...I just had to pause from my larger project to stitch up a little something Americana....
Liberty Sewing Pocket
36 count linen

Let me share with you a little about the journey....It was one of those "make it as you go along" pieces...

It started out like this....
Of course, I had to make it my own by attaching a little something...how about a flannel star??
I had been reading some old quilting magazines and saw an article about Prairie Points...
They offer texture and dog-gone-it, they remind me of flags somehow..So, I thought, why not...since I have stepped out of my comfort zone, go for it....
okay, so, binding and Prairie Points were done...so I started playing around with the linen...
A little squaring up with the batting and backing in place...time for the binding..
Fortunately, I had the forsight to bring my new table top stand....Sweet Chelle of Raspberry Rabbits has a couple sizes of these stands and a while back, I had bought the 6" x 12" size... so I hand sewed a little sleeve on the back so this could be a small hanging...Binding got blind stitched on the back..
I just love the simplicity of this design and although I did not "prim" up this finish, it still is somewhat on the simple side to my taste...
The flag is my favorite part of the design...
With most of my patriotic collection back home, I thought this fit just fine on my table at the beach condo...
********

I did manage to stitch up another lovely design early in the week by Little House Needleworks.... By the way, have you seen ALL of her wonderful new designs...I am in creativity overload!!!
I will be finishing off this design once I have returned home however....The collection of fabrics I have in mind are all waiting patiently for me back home...

My Dwelling Place
Little House Needleworks
Overdye threads

I did use GAST Weathered Barn for my red however....The specified thread was a little orangey for my taste...So, this will land on my staging table soon for a finishing.....

Also, I want you to know how thrilled I was to have met up with Cathi of
Shakerwood Quilts in Wilmington NC last week at a quilt show....I knew there would be lots of vendors there and I am always searching for homespuns and hand dyed wools...
Her double size booth was jam packed with kits, needfuls and can I say GORGEOUS wools! So nice to have finally met her and her husband...Soon I will be showing you a pouch or two in wool from her shop...Let's just say, you're gonna like them!!!

*******
Have you guys seen this beauty yet???? Does it have "carolinastitcher" written all over it??? tee-hee,..
I often go to Country Sampler on line for a little retail therapy, and when I saw this...I KNEW I had to have it...So, once I am done with Adam and Eve, this one's kitted up ready to go!!

Go check out the June 6 post --here-- and see what I mean..Good thing I'm not a quilter because I know I'd get in some big trouble at this shop!! One day, when I win the lottery, it is a dream of mine to actually visit their shop in person.....A girl can dream....right?

Long post...I know...and if you're still reading...Thanks!
I leave you with a snap of last nights setting sun from my porch overlooking a little lagoon out back..

Smiles for a great to all!!!

Faye

You have been one busy girl! I love your finish on your hanging. I struggle with how to finish c-stitching. You always have such beautiful work! Try to stay cool - it is so hot here in the Carolina's!

Love, love your finish for Liberty! I could have spent hours in that booth. Can't wait to see what you are up to with the wool. What a gorgeous sunset. We got all our yard work and running around done befor 1:00; we've pulled the shades, turned on the fans and being still in the dark. Its awful ot up here in Maine and the humidity does not help.

Keep cool. P.J.

Your finish is lovely. I had to click the link to see which Country Sampler store you were talking about..I've been to the shop a few times. We live about 3 hours south of there.

It is a charming shop, and she arranges things so well. You've made me want to visit there again.
