Some Sunday finishing......

Greetings everyone!!  I sure do hope your weekend was fantastic and you found some time to stitch a little....I have been working on Sarah Eliz Brooke 1842 but not enough to show you an updated progress photo......But, I did manage to do some finishing today.... I decided that each time I sat down to finish something for a customer, I would finish something for myself.....My ever-growing basket of stitched items needs a little attention!

Here is what I can show you that are MY finishes.... (Abbie, Linda W and KathyR; your finishes will be going out tomorrow in the mail!!)

~~~What makes me happy~~~
On this most honorable day of recognizing our Veterans and all they do, and have done, I salute them for their courage and dedication to our country.... I know you join me in saluting each and every person that has served in the military over the many years.... Their actions have helped shaped our lives to what they are today. For that, we are all eternally grateful.
I wanted to extend that gratitude into something I could do for someone..... Just a little something... MY way of saying "Thanks!"..... So, I submerged myself into my little world, and sewed up a small goodie....Just a little something....really, not much at all....But, something that may put a smile on someones face............ I will be mailing it out tomorrow to a friend..... I hope they like it.
I do have a couple projects in the works....
One is oh so prim.....
And, one is seasonal...A pure Turkey Day delight~~~
So, stay tuned as I hope to devote some time to each over this weekend.....
Peace,
Jumped in with both feet~~~
If you know me at all, you know that when I'm on intercession from school, I am at the condo at Cherry Grove Beach SC,,,, With waves echoing that familiar soft sound in the background, I have managed to dive into the new JCS Magazine.... Many of my favorite designers have "scored" true delights in this fantastic Christmas edtion.....
Paulette Stewart of Plum Street Samplers has another seasonal winner in her "Yuletide" ornament...I knew I had to stitch it the minute I saw it~~~
Another designer that I admire and stitch quite often are those designs of Liz Gorski of
 Primrose Needleworks..............This little red bird was simply too cute to pass up~~
And, of course, there is that talented Tanya Anderson "The Sampler Girl"....
Her "Good Tidings to You" design made my wheels start turning about the 'just perfect' finish I have in mind.....prim, simplistic and perfect...
40 ct natural linen
specified DMC threads
Weeks Lousiana Hot Sauce floss
Life just would not be complete at the beach without adding another La-D-Da finish to my ever growing pile... I had brought 3 of her designs with me, and decided that "Your Gentleness" was calling my name.... So, here it is...Aren't those berries the prettiest deep shade of burgandy??
Lastly, I had promised myself to put a dent in a large WIP project that is on my
 "Up for a Challenge 2011" list.....I pulled out A Quaker Christmas by Days Gone By and decided that I can set my sights on finishing this bad boy.. Its about 3/4 done and all red...So, I am going to try my best to  finish her...So, here is where I stand on this project as of now..please excuse the wrinkles...she's been drug everywhere so there are quite a few dents in the linen....
Well, if you have stuck with me through this entire long post, Thanks! I appreciate each and everyone of you and the time you take to post a comment....It truly is my inspiration to continue doing what I love ....Here's hoping all of you have a great week.....Happy stitching and enjoy the nice fall weather~
A La-D-Da long weekend....
With all the nostaligia of Labor Day and the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9-11...I felt it important to stitch up something meaningful this long Labor Day weekend.....  So, my project of choice was,
 Count your blessings, 1 by 1...by La~D~Da...
40 ct Vintage pearled Barley, Lakeside Linens
specified npi silks
Also, I have been on a roll this weekend, finishing up another one of wip projects that was lingering in my basket to be finished....Last year when visiting my dear friend Barbara, I spotted this La-D-Da she had stitched and framed and fell head over heels for it.....What did I do? I came home and started stitching it immediately and yes, I ended up putting it down.... I thought what better time to finish this one up as alot of you guys have children beginning school right after Labor Day...So.....
Here is where I had left things when I put it up in 2010...
Here is a little more weekend progress, but not all that pretty....
And here she is all finished....I had an 8 x 8 frame at home that I laid on top of the linen....I am thinking now I will find a 7 x 7 frame though.....I don't like too much spacing on the sides....(sorry for the shadows!!)
School Days
La~D~Da found in JCS magazine, Oct 2003
40 ct flax Newcastle linen
converted Belle Soie/ AVAS silks
And of course I like the red school house....He she is up close....satin stitches and all......
So, big ole happy dance on this finish!! This is finish 9 for 2011 out of my WorksInProgress basket....(Those I made a committment to try my best to finish in 2011...) There are at least 4 or 5 LARGE pieces lingering that I hope to finish at least one more of.....We will see~~~
Have a great week everyone~~ And happy stitching.....
New stitching friends and a finished Quaker Alphabet
I really must share my wonderful experience from yesterday. A few days ago I received a post from a lady by the name of Tommye who lives in NC..long story short..turns out she works at a LNS about an hour from Cherry Grove SC in Southport NC...(if you are ever near there, check out Angelwings Needleworks..) anyway, her stitch group was meeting last night..so what was a curious stitcher to do but get in the car and go check things out!! Turns out Tommye and I attended NCSU at the same time, lived in the same dorm with only 1 floor separating us and that we share the love of many of the same cross stitch designers...I will say that Tommye is a lovely person and I am so envious that a); she is a former shop owner and b); she is retired and gets to work p/time in a stitch shop now!~ How lucky would I be to be in her shoes!~LOL..anyway, we hit it off immediately. So, listen up ladies, there are many of us out there who share the same passion and eventually your paths may cross with one another when you least expect it!!! Oh, go check out Tommyes blog: stitchingandbeading.blogspot.com and her etsy....All her work is absolutely beautiful!
So, yesterday a.m. I was able to tie up the loose ends on the Quaker Alphabet by La-D-Da. I really liked the way it turned out. It will be a good companion piece to the La-D-Da I finished Monday..Live, Love, Laugh....I chose to make this one on 30 count dyed Weeks fabric....used 2 strands of Belle Soie (using 1 was not enough coverage for me!) colors: Cranberry and Moss...Using 2 made the design bold, but I liked the intensity....so, Amy, if you are reading, that Weeks fabric I bought from you was a hit with me!~ Let me know what you think!
Sorry this post got so long, but I couldnt resist the story....going to be a hot one again today at the SC beaches...I only have 9 days until I need to head on back home to Southern Pines and ready myself for my new crop of first graders....I am so lucky to be showered with hugs from all those little darlings!~~ So with Aug 18 being my first workday back at school...yikeees, that is just around the corner!!
Happy Stitching everyone! Faye
Live,Love,Laugh is done!~
Well......Last night I finished the La-D-Da I started on Friday.....Let's just say, I fell in love with it and couldnt put it down!! The Gloriana's that Jolene sent with it were a deviation from the specified threads, but I loved those she picked out. I stitched it on 32 ct Flax Belfast using Gloriana Charcoal, Olive Grove and Cinnamon. I had sooo much fun stitching it up! Thanks again Jolene for the wonderful giveaway from you that I won...I will think about it each and every time I see this piece and how fortunate I was to have received it from you!! Happy stitching everyone!!!! Faye
