....."Land of the Free" finish.....

Hello friends......

I just HAD to share today's stitch finish that has languished my stitch basket since summertime..... I knew when I saw photos of this pretty stitch on Country Samplers shop walls, I would be definitely be stitching it to hang over my pie safe..... The last stitch was planted today..... It was a 6 month work in progress but I cannot wait to get it framed now~

Land of the Free by Willow Tree Samplings
image
The phrase is what originally captured my eye.....
Stitched on 32 count Lakeside Pearled Barley linen....

Untitled
Design size is 21 inches by 8 inches.....

image
The first house uses Gentle Arts Aged Pewter .... Nice blue~gray tones..

image
My second house uses Gentle Arts Old Red Paint instead of the specified Walnut..... I'm just partial to red houses.....

image
The third is a whitewashed simple abode~~

image
Chamomile house anchors the right side of these row houses...

image
This design was such a joy to stitch.... I've become accustomed to stitching with 1 thread in my needle, so using 2 threads on this 32 ct linen allowed me to rediscover thicker thread coverage... I like the look~

The land of the free~ because of the brave~

....Getting ready to start things back up in my classroom Monday.... First, I'll have 22 precious 6 year olds to greet and hug~ We will catch up on all the Christmas stories.... Settle down a bit and hopefully come Tuesday, we will be back on track to learn! Plus, my craftroom will be back to humming next week as well.... Those of you with orders sent to me already are first up! So, get ready~

Happy stitching all~

Faye

It is beautiful! I too love stitching Patriotic pieces. I may have to add this pattern to my stash.

I love the sentiment, too, but the design is great, too! Yeah, back into the 'real' new year - six months!

Oh, my goodness! Your piece is just marvelous. I must confess I was not familiar with Willow Hill Samplings, and now see that they have several patriotic designs. Thank you SO much for bringing this designer to my attention. Your color choices and stitching are simply stunning. Can't wait to see what frame you choose...and can't wait to see what other finishes you share with us in 2015.

Great piece and the Old Red Paint was a good choice as the colors seem perfect. Looking forward to seeing it framed.

I love this piece so much also mainly because of the verse and the houses and people. I remember liking it when I first saw it; the thing I don't remember for sure is whether I have already purchased it or not! I need to check that out and get it ordered if I didn't. Don't you just love Lakeside Linen to stitch on? It is one of my favorites. I am so glad that you posted your finish; it was just what I needed this morning. Enjoy your kid's at school, and happy stitching!

I have this in my stash, and have to say your color changes are great! GAST Old Red Paint is such a good choice to put some color onto this design. If you don't mind, I'd like to use your color choices. Great finish!

I love that piece, have had my eye on for awhile now, but I love the colors your chose to use. I love the little Christmas stockings that you did on your last post, did you make the pattern up or is it a pattern for sale?
Happy New Year to you!

Beautiful finish Faye ! I have this started but I only seem to work on it in the summer months. I am bad about stitching "in season" - hope you enjoy it and please show it again after framing. Good luck in the new year ! with warm and "wooley thoughts" Mel

Always a great feeling to finish a big project and place it in the "To-DONE" pile! Been working on a new blog of my own, so I've gotten behind on reading your last several posts. Catching up tonight. It's such a treat to read, and I always look forward to it. Thanks for sharing.
