One last Christmas finish~

Greetings all and I hope you all have enjoyed Christmas Day! We had lots of fun at my house with the mild weather, gift giving and relaxing..... I did have a chance to stitch and finish one last goodie for my collection...

Isobel of The Primitive Hare is one of my favorite prim designers and her pretty Christmas design caught my eye immediately.... It is found in the Christmas Edition of Punchneedle & Primitive Stitcher magazine.... I have to say, this publication is so nicely put together and is chocked full of charts by a good variety of designers.....

I did a little experimenting with the linen.... It's stained with an aging spray that I like use to prim things up... I buy mine at Auntie Ju's Quilt Shoppe on-line and this spray solution has become my go to staining mix. This 36 count linen was too pale for my tastes so it was heavily stained... The lighter accent linen started out a stark white linen before it was stained.....

This red check ribbon was also toned down with a few squirts of the aging solution before I hand tacked it down.....

And, my winter bunny needed an aged bow tied around his neck.... Nothing big.....

I lined the little bag with more stained fabric..... And, created a narrow cuff around the top to give it a more finished off look....

This will probably be my last stitch and finish for 2015..... I have a couple more irons in the fire, but nothing I'm going to rush with to get finished~ As this year winds down, I hope to get to recharge myself a little more... School will start in a week and I have a classroom of darling First Graders counting on me to be on my "A" game come Jan 4....

As always, thanks for the visit and kind words... Hearing from folks is my inspiration~~

Kindly,

Faye

....today's picture walk.....

Greetings friends and Merry Christmas! I wanted to take a moment to share a few personal stitches of mine.... Here are a few ornaments that I've added to my personal collection..... So, here you go~

Kelmscott Designs Quaker 4~ Stitched on 40 count Lakeside Exenplar linen with Goriana cranberry silk~

It comes with a prepainted black disc to mount your stitch...I added cording~

Summer House Stitche Workes~ Merry Merry! (Retreat freebee)

I have always wanted a Christmas journal so I mounted this small stitch atop a notebook... Doesn't it make you want to open it up and write notes?

I added the 3 tiny buttons in place of the charted word "X-mas".... My thread selections were GAST Oatmeal, Old Hickory and Mountain Mist stitched on 36 count Fawn Lakeside linen....

Hands to Work~ Little House Needleworks~ I stitched on 32 count linen using 1 thread over 1.... A true labor of love but worth the extra effort.... It's 2.5" X 2.5" design size is now a perfect ornament size~

Santas Workshop~ The Nebby Needle.. Design found in the Christmas issue of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine... This publication is chocked full of beautiful cross stitch designs!

...this is the back of this sweet ornament.....

Historic Stitches~ Christmas Abecedaire Ornament

This is the ninth annual ornament as designed by Susan Biggers and I love it's unique shape... Edged with my custom cording.... I used Victorian Motto Sampler Threads Faye's Red on 36 count creme linen...

* Lizzie Kate, I think*** I forgot to make notes about this one.....

This flannel check is actually a little fuzzy and soft... A nice compliment to this pretty winter design...

Prairie Schooler Santa 2012... I stitched on a coffee stained 32 count linen using 2 threads over 2~

The envelope Santa is holding says Carolina Stitcher.... A touch of the unexpected.....

Prairie Schooler Santa 1988... A simple finish to not distract from the stitches.. I substituted GAST Country Redwood to give Santas coat a nice texture....

Prairie Schooler Santa 1984.... I have all of the annual Santa designs by PS and randomly choose about 3-4 each year to stitch.....

Prairie Schooler~ I thought this 32 count natural linen with the creme dots added a lot to this Santa...

(Out of print) Hands to Work tiny stocking.....

With thy Needle & Thread~ A Winters Skate

I line all stockings, even the ornament size stockings.... This one topped with tan chenille....

I have received an early Christmas gift an I absolutely cannot wait to put it to good use!

Silent Stitches is an on-line shop that offers some of the best finishing supplies, trinkets and stitching goodies.... When I spotted this oval 6x9" Hardwicke Manor hoop, I knew I had to have it!

I hope everyone has a great Christmas ~~~

Smiles,

Faye

Personal collection of finishes....

Greetings all this chilly Sunday....

I've had a chance to put a little attention to finishing a few of my own stitched pieces.... Here are a couple today....

eSub~Rosa design.... "Merry" ....... Stitched on stained 36 count linen using specified overdyes threads .... I stained my linen before stitching this time....

I edged the design with a strip of fabric cut on the bias then hand stitched for a prim look...

I especially love the unique bell in the center... Sub Rosa designs are special to me.... Simple designs that are fairly quick stitches... Plus since they are purchased on her Etsy, they are instant downloads with no wait time.....

I also finished a sweet stitch that was actually gifted to me earlier ..... (Yes, often my personal finishing work is the last to be completed .... But that's ok...) A free hand stitch that Ann created .... I made it into a small tuck pillow and I'm calling it Merry Christmas Ann.....

Isn't it sweet and simple? I used Victorian Motto Sampler hand dyed Rick-rack along the edges....

A time worn look that's perfectly primitive~

More to come folks.....
