Giveaway winners and more patriotic finishes!!!

First of all, I would like to say a huge" Thank you" to all of you who visit my blog~ I am truly honored by the kind words you say about my stitching~ I have had the best fun these past 12 months both blogging and making all my new cross stitch friends. When I was writing down the 116 names to pull from for the giveaway, I was blown away~~ 116 comments~~ NEVER did I ever expect the turnout to be so awesome~ I decided to have the original giveaway package and 3 additional names were drawn for one of the mini pincushions I made...So.....

Deb's name was drawn for the giveaway package~~ Congrats Deb!!...Please email me with your mailing address~~

And, the 3 additional names I drew for a pincushion were: Terri(TerriBoog), Natalie and Myra. If you ladies will also email me with your mailing address, I will send these on out to you this week..Way to go~~~

BBD Fourth of July Stocking (July)

BBD Quaker Fragments (March)

Last night I was on a finishing "roll" and got 2 BBD stockings put together....Dont laugh, but the one on the right is actually from March stocking series...I just made it my own by using patriotic colors....These were alot of fun~~

Lizzie Kate-Gold Bless America

God Bless America has always been a favorite of mine....It is long and narrow so I made into a little pillow stuffed with fiberfill, edged with vintage lace and tied off with twine.....kinda prim..

Heart in Hand- Olde Glory

Lastly, I made a pinpillow from Olde Glory... Since it came out in 2002, there is no telling how many of these I have stitched and framed to give as gifts...I just love the colors and simplicity of the design...

Soon, I hope to have all my finishes done so I can redecorate my tree in the craft room to enjoy all summer long..... Hip, Hip, Horray for the Red, white and blue~~~

Enjoy this Memorial Day weekend by hugging a Veteran!! Always, Faye

Patriotic finishes~~

Liberty and Justice
Little House Needleworks
32 ct flax linen, specified DMC threads

My pile of patriotic stitches were calling my name today from the craft room....So, I got busy~~ I "recyled" an old pair of my sons blue jeans for the denim on the front of this pillow and....

Backside of LHN pillow

Denim jeans/red check homespun cotton

I used the little coin pocket on the back for a pair of scissors to ride around in.... Kinda different, hunh??

A Prairie Year by The Prairie Schooler (circa 1986)

"Liberty" shop freebie by Lizzie Kate (circa 1999)

Then I decided to make a mini pillow to tuck into the heart pouch of the Prairie Schooler "A Prairie Year" I had seen someone else do....tied it up with bandana trim.... My "Liberty" pillow (Lizzie Kate) needed a few little buttons to keep her simple enough....

I've had Patriotic songs swirling in my head all day.... "With liberty and justice for all !" Hoping you all have a song in your heart and a prayer on your lips to honor those who fight and have fought for this wonderful thing we know as FREEDOM... Peace, Faye

An update on the scissor pocket project

I am truly humbled by the many requests I have gotton to know more about Barbara Bernard and her cross stitch patterns.... If you email me I will be glad to provide you with her direct email if you are interested in purchasing any chart she offers....

The beauty of the patterns is that you can make it your own.....I am listing the colors I have chosen for the "Token of Love" Quaker Scissor Pocket by Barbara Bernard. I did this mostly because I am in a "waste not" state of mind and had all these beautiful threads already on hand.

GAST: Apple Cider, Old Red Paint
Weeks: Gold 2221
Crescent Colors: Ginger Snap
Needle Necessities:113 Slate Blue
Waterlilies: 106 Olive
Outline done in Kreinik Silk Mori 7024 Tan

So, there you have it~~~ I hope every one has a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend.. Have fun, get some much needed rest and remember all those who serve our country in this most Patriotic of holidays~~

Just a little progress.....

I have to confess I have fallen in love with designer, Barbara Bernard's patterns... Maybe it is because she incorporates Quaker designs or maybe it is because I love the unique finishing instructions she provides....None the less, I have begun her design, Quaker Motif Scissor Pocket , and I cannot put it down...

Quaker Motif Scissor Pocket
32 ct coffee dyed(by me) linen
GAST Apple Cider, Needle Necessities113 Slate Blue
(I am using floss I have on hand rather than that specified..)
I hope to finish the top motif this weekend and then focus my attention to my pile of Patriotic stitches that are patiently waiting for me in the craft room..... We will see!

Closer view of my work

By the way, the companion piece to this Quaker Scissor Pocket is the Anniversary Tool Pouch mentioned on my previous post.... Dont forget to post comments on that post for my giveaway I will be doing on Sunday May 30th..........It has been a fun year and I cannot wait to share some of my goodies with my friends!!

My First Year Blogaversary Giveaway~~and some weekend progress!

I had been working hard last week on making some new pincushions..... I pulled out all my freebie patterns and stitched up a few in my favorite red threads..... Then slip stitched the sides together....

Stuffed them with crushed walnut shells and Poof!! We have little pincushions perfect to have on your side table, in your sewing area or to be used when traveling...they are only about 2-3 inches square and really come in right handy~~

Here is their back sides....Not quite as much stitching on the backs..... So, you see, I did do a little finishing this weekend...

And, here is what I would like to give away on May 30st in honor of my first year in the blog world..... I love working up anything Quaker, so I am including the Loudoun Sampler Guild Anniversary Tool Pouch by Barbara Bernard...I am also including"Love Letters" by Country Stitches~With thy Needle & Thread... Along with some Victorian Motto Sampler Thread....and one of my previously mentioned pincushions....I even made up some beaded pins which will be included...... So, here's the deal.... Comment on this post only between now and May 30th for a change to have your name in the drawing! That's all you have to do~~~

Can't really elaborate more than that since they are gifts....Let me just say, not only were these a quick stitch, but a quick finish too~ As you see the first is a stocking ornament (love those!) and the next is a crushed walnut filled pincushion....Hope the homes they are headed to will enjoy~~
And, to top off my great day, I had the most precious ornament in the mailbox today~~ Carol S made me a Christmas ornament as part of the Hooked on Exchanging blog... I absolutely LOVE it and if you know Carol, you know this finish is awesome~~~ Beautiful job Carol!!
