My Giving Back Giveaway.....

Happy Thanksgiving evening everyone!
Most of you have enjoyed your festivities earlier today....
At the Riggsbee house, we will be having our turkey and trimmings tomorrow...
I cannot wait...Cake is baked, pies are cooled...
tomorrow will be alot of fellowship and fun!!

I took today to put the finishing touches on a special Christmas gift that will be travelling to France on Monday....I definitely cannot reveal those details quite yet...but, I also spend hours putting together some goodies for my "2012 Giving Back Giveaway..."

 I'm fortunate. I have what I need. I'm rich with friends, family and memories.

I. am. blessed.
 I would like to share my handiwork with one of my blog friends.....
 Please comment, on this post only, for a drawing on Monday, Nov. 26...
It will include...

A scissor fob....(scissors not included...sorry...)

Isn't the back cute also???? And, notice the buttons and dangling charm.....

A couple other surprises will be included, but here is only a teasing glimpse of them...

hmmmm..... Just a few carolinastitcher handmade goodies to add to your Christmas decor....

I actually dreamed up the giveaway fob after drawing inspiration from a fob I had experimented making myself earlier.... Here are a few shots of my fob....

I told you I like layers....and buttons...

I leave you with my other finish for the day....A while back, I had completed the stitching part of the freebie design that the talented Tanya Brockmeyer had created for the PALS retreat last month....
Today, I was able to actually fill it with crushed walnut shells and sew it up...

I smile everytime I look at it because it really DOES remind me of the happy times at the retreat laughing with friends and stitching at the beach.....

Many blessings to you all!!!

Spring Robin Christmas Open House....

Road Trip!!!!!

 My stitching bud, Linda and I, took a little road trip Saturday to The Spring Robin cross stitch shop in Salisbury NC....
 For a little retail therapy, of course, along with kick starting our Christmas stitchy festivities.....
Nothing like seeing shop models...And, Robin has a HUGE array of mouldings in her nice custom framing section......

There were tempting snacks and beverages....
Along with several Christmas and Thanksgiving collections on display....

Robin truly has a shop that not only has beautiful cross stitching hanging everywhere, but the shop is filled with antiques and decorating with JUST the right touch!!

A picture walk says it all....

 Everyone had a very special day.......

....me,Lynn,Robin,Linda,Sandra.....

A good Christmas Open House is all I need to get in the mood to start my own decorating......
How about you?????

Baby....It's cold outside...!

Good chilly Thursday morning!!!

That title says it all!.....It IS cold here in the Carolinas this early morn.....I just had to show you my latest finish..... With my craftroom all a buzz, I had to get a little something sewn up for myself and here are the results...adorning my breakfast table....

Heartstring Samplery
Baby...It's cold outside!...
supplies as specified by designer~one over two~

My dear friend, Lynn Stansfield has the most wonderful fabrics and I LOVE them...Actually I hoard them...But, I pulled out a few to use on this piece....The darker brown and faded red calico are from her....Just MADE for this piece it seems....Your fabrics lended the perfect touch Lynn!!!

This table scarf is 38 inches long....enough to make a statement....

With the snowy scene in the stitch, I couldn't resist using some of my vintage cotton lace as an accent..It helps accent the fluffy white snow falling on the roof of the houses....

Make this a wonderful day......
brrrrr......  Baby, it IS cold outside!...........

Peace,

Faye

Layers......

Greetings this wonderful Sunday evening.....
~~~Veterans Day Eve~~~
Living very near Ft Bragg Army base, and having many children in  my classroom whose dads or moms or both dads and moms in the  military, we are almost always in an "honoring" frame of mind...Whether its the extra hug a child needs because its confusing to try to understand why dad is gone so long.....Or, knowing mom is on the phone constantly comforting a fellow Army wife who is enduring a hard time.... Or, those fantastic moments when they come to school to let everyone know that "Mom is home from her deployment and she's getting to stay two whole months"!!!...
Like I say, my community is deeply entrenched in honoring and supporting our military families...
Families of past heroes, those who are currently serving and those who have fought and now have daily struggles....
Yes, tomorrow is Veterans Day...
~~~Honor tomorrow and always~~~

I would love to share many of my customers finishes, but tonight I'd rather highlight what I like to do best when creating finishes.....layers... I love layering  fabrics, buttons, laces....whatever!

So, I will let you have a picture walk of a few creations I have made of late...

..bells with twine...

...bells with wool felt and custom cording...

...vintage buttons with lace....

...buttons with the right theme in mind...

...antique buttons with cotton lace and hand made pins...

..layered buttons...yes! I love buttons as embellishments...

...layers....and more layers....

...wool felt with chenille...with more wool felt...hand stitched...

...ahhh, chenilles....

...co-ordinating piping...just the right touch....

...lined and cuffed diddie bags....layers....

Get the picture?.... I just had to share peeks of some of the finishing I have been doing for my fellow stitchers...you guys...out there in blog world.... YOUR fantastic stitches that I have been able to lend my creativity to.....

with  just a few more weeks until Christmas, I would be happy to help any of you guys with your finishes....just drop me a line....my cut-off date be Nov 21 with a ship date of Dec 14 or earlier...With that being said, April~Margaret~Tanya, your orders are on my sewing table for this week...

I haven't forgotton about  my "Giving Back Giveaway"...
I will be announcing more about it this week~~~~

Hoping everyone has a fantastic week.....

Blessings,
