I love cross stitch so much. It is my constant friend. There are always new designs to discover. There are other stitchers to inspire and teach. It is a connection to our past. I could go on...

Why I love cross stitch,,is because of the beautiful designs and the wonderful people you meet thru this craft..

What beautiful Valentines! I love cross stitching because it is such a relaxing hobby, I love to look at and touch all the different colors of linen and threads, it's so exciting to see a design you are stitching come to life, and last, but definitely not least, I love the special bond that cross stitchers share.

There are many reasons why I love cross stitch! I have met many wonderful people and have seen just amazing creativity. But mainly it is something that is all mine. It is calming, peacedul, and relaxing.

CalamityJr said...

What a sweet giveaway! My two main reasons for loving cross stitch are how much it relaxes me and calms my soul, and I love the process of taking a blank piece of fabric and turning into something (hopefully, lol) beautiful.

Jules said...

Hmmm, why I love cross stitch?! Well, I guess because it allows me to be creative in a quiet way (as opposed to scrapbooking where one hears scissors and cutters and papers shuffling, lol). Plus it's more of a solitary craft that I enjoy. Other crafts I enjoy are most enjoyable with others like scrapping.

My love for counted cross stitch goes back to when I was 10....for me it was an escape to a world of being creative...of pleasure when each stitch became something lovely. I never get upset with little mishaps because it is just so relaxing to me to have needle in hand.
I stitch every chance I get, especially very very early in the morning when the house is so quiet....

Love the cute cushions. I love cross stitching for many reasons, but the #1 reason: It has carried me through a number of difficult times in my life & those of my children. When stitching, I felt like I could at least contribute to life & those of others. I hope, to think that my stitching brought some hope & peace to those I gave to.
A lovely give away, all from your heart. Bless you.

I love cross stitch because you can be very creative with it or let others be creative with it and it all turns out great regardless. It prevents me from eating in the evenings.

What a lovely giveaway! I love cross stitch -- it's so easy to pick up and do. And I love the end results too. It's definitely a therapy for me, a sort of meditation.

I love cross stitch because my dear grandmother introduced it to me many years ago. Now she seems to look right through me as she does not know me anymore. It happened so fast! I know that somewhere in her mind she is pulling pretty threads through cloth.

Aww, Faye, those are darling! Hmm..no one has every asked why I "love" crossing all of those little exes..I guess I love it because I can totally brainstorm about anything and everything, or I can totally block out the same by concentration and counting. If I would do more of the latter, I would probably make fewer mistakes! :)

Unknown said...

Beautiful pincushions! I love cross stitch because it is relaxing and I get to fondle pretty floss and fabric.

There are lots of things I love about cross stitch. I love the way that I can start with a blank slate and turn it into something beautiful. Something that I have poured my heart and soul into. Something that grows with me as I grow in life. I also love the comradarie and friendships that stitching has brought my way. Most of all, I love my Grandmother, who started me on this journey over 25 years ago.....

Beautiful job on the pincushions!

DaisyGirl said...

Why do I love cross stitch? To me, it represents my heart that I put in each stitch! The joy that I get when I give someone a piece of me is utterly indescribable, I always hope that the person receiving the gift will remember how much I care for that person :)

Unknown said...

I love to cross stitch because I have a "need" to create. I love the beautiful colors of floss and fabrics and the ability to get lost in my needlework for a little while and forget about all my other responsibilities. Your many projects inspire me!

Barb said...

Your work is always an inspiration, especially considering you teach. I did that for 30 years and I was always TIRED! Now that is why I love cross stitch. It is so relaxing to do in the evening while my DH watches TV. The pincushions are just lovely!

Loraine said...

Hi Faye. What darling little pincushions. Thanks for your generosity.

Why do I love cross stitch? Well, it's relaxing, it's inspiring, and sew darn fun! (LOL!)
I'm so glad my mom taught me how to make those little x's over 30 years ago. My whole life is represented in stitches.

I love the 2 little pillows! And scissors! So festive! I did a great deal of cross stitch when I was younger and just out of college. Then after I got married and had my son, I quit stitching, always thinking I would do it again when my child was older. Well, now he is 24 and I have started up again!! ha I cannot believe it's taken me this long, but I enjoy it so much! I've made some cute ornaments and I've started following blogs. Maybe I'll start my own blog one day! The stitching is so relaxing and when I look at my finished items they seem like little friends! I know that sounds strange, but I've really enjoyed my renewed interest in cross stitch. Your work is lovely and you are so kind to have these giveaways! Thanks! Frances

Hi Faye, My name is Beth and I love reading your blog. We seem to like the same patterns. Thanks so much for a valentine giveaway.I love X-stitch for so many reasons. My mom and I spent the last few years of her life stitching together. I still remember how she loved to start something new and pick out her floss and fabric. I started reading blogs when she died and it is so nice to know there are people like me out there. Happy Valentines Day, Beth N. (stormybrew57@aol.com)

Faye, as is no surprise, those pincushions are just darling.

Also not surprising is that I have a different take on why I love cross stitch. I, do, love it for most of the reasons that have been given, but they are not why I started cross stitching. I am a left brain seriously tilted person who admires creativity, but felt totally inept in all the areas I was looking at. Now, someone showed me a way to create while counting! Glory Be how wonderful that was for me! Now I can create - whooo hooo!

What a great giveaway; I love cross stitch for a few reasons; first, no matter how bad of a day I've had I can sit in my chair and stitch and just "escape" from reality for a while and I love to stitch things for my mom; she appriciates everything I stitch for her and of course I LOVE to shop for stash!! :)

Why I love those little "kisses" hmmm let me count the ways!
The days are not just counted in endless minutes they are counted in flying hours, with this hobby we all love so much.
We stitchers share a common bond and friendships are forged with the needle and thread that mean so much. Cross stitching rocks!!
Love those little cushions and thankyou so much for a chance to win them Faye.
Happy Valentines Day!

Oh cross stitch, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... linens, beautiful linens - solid, vintage, high count, low count... floss, in all the colors of the rainbow - shiny, smooth, sliky.. a feast for the eyes. Then there are the patterns, large, small, bright or muted, simple or intricate.... I love them all.

jayne@~an eye for threads~ said...

Faye, as usual your work is superb. Congratulations.
hmmm, Why I Love Cross Stitch? Well, I'm told I was born with a 28 petite in my right hand and a piece of Zweigart in my left hand and by the age of 2 I had stitched some pretty wacky designs to my dress. The picture is hilarious, and black and white. In all honesty, I have to say that an inner joy floods over me when I am stitching, and that is every aspect of each and every project I have stitched. I take at least one piece of stitching EVERYWHERE we go and it is accepted and expected that this will happen.
My family has always allowed me the time and always appreciated the outcome. My stitching is everywhere in our home and in the homes of many, all around the world. This is one art which has such a common thread within so many wonderful individuals that it would really be a hardship to miss out on this act.
Cheers to all of the wonderful people who hold a needle with pride and joy...

What a great giveaway! Let's see. I suppose the most important reason why I love stitching is because it relaxes me, keeps me sane, and the end result decorates my house. Okay, more than one reason--but there it is. ;)

Lynda Hardy said...

When I first learned to stitch, I was about a million months pregnant, and badly needed something to keep myself calm and force me to stop fidgeting. lol. Over the years, it's been my friend..sometimes the one and only thing that stays done once it gets done. It's let me provide gifts when times are too tight to buy gifts, created traditions... it was years after starting that I became interested in the history of the thing, and seeing my pieces as potential heirlooms. 30 years in, I am still learning and have a list of 'ooh I want to do that' so long I'll have to live until I'm 300 to finish them all. I guess the short form of what I'm saying is that cross stitch is multifaceted enough to give a person whatever they need at whatever stage of life they're in.

Thanks for the great giveaway, Faye! What a great theme!

I began stitching because I wanted to have a wedding sampler. I found a pattern in Better Homes and Gardens, I stitched it and I fell in love! The sampler still hangs in our bedroom. I made SO many mistakes and the framer (who was a cross stitcher herself) actually corrected many of the long thread carry overs on the back of the piece!

I love cross stitch because it gives me a creative outlet and allows me to be with my family. My other artistic passions (painting and drawing) are really solitary activities.
I love watching the design unfold on my fabric. I relax with the repetitive motion of needle and thread into the fabric. Like LyndaB, in the beginning I stitched gifts and made holiday decorations. Then I fell in love with the history of samplers. Over the years, my tastes have changed but my love and passion for cross stitch hasn't.

I have enough stash to stitch for eternity and I hope that when I get to Heaven, my stash will be waiting for me!

Hello Faye! I would love to be entered into your Valentine's draw. Your finishing and stitching is just so beautiful. As to why I love cross stitching? Well, cross stitching is very relaxing for me. I like the process of creating something beautiful that I can give to my family and friends. The feel of the linen between my fingers is divine. The colours of the threads and the whoosh of the needle is a perfectly matched duet in creating a design. I love the time I spend on stitching because I can pray, think, muse about life and love. When I finally finish a project, it is a great sense of accomplishment. The thought process of how I want to finish a piece is a wonderful creative outlet for me. I love the thought of continuing the tradition of women stitching for her family and friends. It is an expression of herself that can be passed down to her daughters for generations.

I love cross stitching!!

Now 30 years later, I STILL love stitiching...and giving the gifts away to friends! xoxo, Lisa

Then choosing a certain type of finish when you're through creating it. I wish that I had seen your post about your lovely prim giveaways sooner! They are so special, and congratulations to the lucky person who receives them.

For me, stitching helps me to get in touch with the more peaceful side of myself. Although I wish that I were talented enough to design, I am not, so when I finish a piece of needlework, it makes me feel wonderful to think that I am still capable of creating something beautiful after all. I love the community of friends I have met who also share my passion for stitching and for the friendships I have made. I am thankful to my grandmother who first taught me to cross stitch when I was a little girl.
